Hanna Instruments is looking for a full-time Inside Sales Representative to join our Sales department for the Agriculture Industry in Smithfield, RI. The purpose of this position is to expand Hanna’s presence in the agriculture, horticulture and hydroponics industries as being a leader in scientific instrumentation for plant and nutrient quality analysis. Industries include hydroponics for home and retail, horticulture, general agriculture for home and commercial.

We need an enthusiastic individual who will listen and assist our Agriculture / Hydro customers to place orders and handle a variety of sales tasks related to our agriculture industries. The successful candidate for this role will be detail oriented, a multi-tasker and have interest in growing and developing the Agriculture / Hydroponic industry and is eager for professional growth. This position will encompass Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing tasks.

Job Responsibilities for an Inside Sales Representative:

  • Manage revenue targets for the assigned territory
  • Work with independent industry reps to provide necessary order updates and utilize them as a resource to drive revenue growth
  • Close new retail agriculture accounts and follow-up with existing customers and generate re-orders
  • Identify and create leads for the retail hydro industry through cold calls and emails. Follow up on leads for new and existing customers.
  • Identify sponsors and marketing opportunities for agriculture industry (donations, websites or forums). Spearhead donation process and sending information packets to retailers.
  • Responsible for entering and approving all agriculture customer orders accurately and within the same day received. Required to pay close attention to details, reviewing, adding, or deleting comments necessary to process the order and sending acknowledgments with notification of order changes or per customer request. Proofing order entry as required.
  • Work with Logistics and other operating functions regarding delivery and service matters.
  • Search hydro forums for inquiries, problems or issues with Hanna products and rectify any concerns by posting solutions or troubleshooting tips.
  • Handle all incoming and outgoing phone calls for Ag customers with courtesy and professionalism. Ability to solve customer problems, take and track orders while answering inquiries and completing other assigned tasks.
  • Attend trade shows or aquarium hobbyist’s events as needed to promote Hanna brand awareness and generate leads. 25% travel and weekend travel required.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Required for a Agriculture Sales Representative:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in retail Hydro industry and exposure to Agriculture / Hydro preferred
  • Knowledge of Agricultural / Hydro products, industry knowledge, Horticulture, nutrient analysis chemistry, terminology and media channels for Hydro industry a plus
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Comfortable on the phone and talking to customers frequently through multiple mediums.
  • Experience in B2B sales preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel 25%, with occasional weekend travel for tradeshows required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Experience with Hanna products a plus!
